University of Stuttgart confers honorary doctorate on Volkswagen Group Board of Management Member Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz

The University of Stuttgart conferred an honorary doctorate on Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft with responsibility for Procurement, at this year’s annual ceremony. In conferring the title of Dr. rer. pol. h. c. – honorary doctor of political science and economics – the university paid tribute to the high-ranking VW representative for his services to the application of scientific findings and methods in the field of purchasing.The citation stated that Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz supports scientific research and teaching at the Institute of Business Administration of the University of Stuttgart through his proactive participation. His management experience is directly integrated in teaching.
The recently founded Institute for Purchasing at the AutoUni in Wolfsburg is a symbol of his committed advancement of research. The honorary doctorate also acknowledges his successful entrepreneurial involvement at Volkswagen, for example with regard to the introduction of a sustainable purchasing strategy for the entire VW Group.
In addition to his post as Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of SEAT, S. A. (Barcelona) and President of ANFAC, the Spanish automakers association.
