When all other options such as canceling extra shifts have been exhausted, future demand for temporary employees comes up for review. 750 temporary employment contracts in Germany expire at the end of the year. 3,700 temporary employees currently work at Volkswagen AG plants.
The recent statement in the FAZ to the effect that Volkswagen intends to terminate relations with up to 25,000 temporary employees is wrong. Compared with the rest of the automotive industry, Volkswagen is currently still holding its own well. In fact, a further four special shifts will be run at Auto 5000 before the end of the year.
