Voluntary Commitments
International standards provide a framework
It is in the best interests of the Volkswagen Group to have happy, healthy and innovative employees around the world making top-quality products. For this reason, we are committed to establishing international standards as a framework for business.
In developing and emerging economies in particular, internationally binding minimum standards play a central role. That is why we support, on a global basis, the Core Labour Standards of the International Labour Organization (2002), the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Companies (2000), and the Sustainability Principles of the WBCSD (1995) and of the International Chamber of Commerce (1991).
Anti-corruption and global responsibility
Since 2002 the Volkswagen Group has been committed to the principles of the Global Compact (GC). Initiated by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and with 3,000 companies from 70 countries now signed up, this is the largest alliance worldwide in the campaign for socially responsible corporate management. The Volkswagen Group is enforcing the principles shared by all members of the GC – human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, working against corruption – at all its plants. We are working closely with international and regional organisations around the world to strengthen occupational safety and protection of employee health at supplier companies in developing and emerging economies.
